Bird Feeding Stations
Station now open
There are many different species of birds that can be found in the reserve, and all of them are looking for food to stay alive.
To help, in January 2009 a Bird Feeding Station was created in the reserve. It is located just outside the Vinters Valley Lodge and attracts a number of different species.
Visitors to the reserve can watch and monitor the birds through holes cut into the wooden fence panels (during the time we feed the birds – October to March). The panels were kindly donated by Boxley Timber & Fencing Supplies Ltd.
The feeding station offers peanuts, grain, sunflower seeds, and fat balls. Since the station was setup a total of twenty different species have been seen, and the numbers keep increasing.
During August 2019 the feeding station wildlife pond was repaired and increased in size, allowing birds to drink and bathe.
At the feeding station is a list and details of the species being seen and photos to help you identify the birds you see.
So the next time you are visiting the reserve why not take a look and see what birds are feeding.

Station now open
Following the success of the Feeding Station at the Lodge, another feeding area was created in Netley Meadow, in January 2010.
During the summer of 2011 the area was renamed to “Netley Meadow Bird Feeding Station”.
In October 2014, thanks to the help of a team from a hotel in Maidstone, this feeding station saw a new fence put up around it. Viewing windows have been added.
The Netley Meadow feeding station offers peanuts, grain, sunflower seeds, and fat balls. Since the station was setup a total of sixteen different species have been seen .
Thank you to all our supporters who have kindly donated spare old feeders to make the feeding station.
