Our photographic competition ‘Vinters Winters Beauty’ proved to be quite a challenge during a very wet and drap winter of 2019/20. Little did we know at the time that a further challenge was lack of snow which would have made for some stunning shots. Our plan was to show all the entries, including the winners at our AGM. Who could have anticipated a government imposed movement restriction, which meant that we had to cancel our AGM.
We were thrilled at the flood of entries, particularly in the last two weeks of February. The judges had a tough job deciding the winners of each category and the overall winner of the competition as the qualities of the entries were so high.
These have now been decided and each winner notified of their success, so with their permissions we are pleased to publish the winning photographs.
Adult Category Winner & Overall Winner: Jatin Vats
12 – 18 Category Winner: Toby Lewis
Under 12 Category Winner: George Nicholson
The aim of the competition was to find ‘winters beauty’ in the nature reserve. So many of the entries demonstrated an ability to see beyond the drabness of this season and to see the beauty of the reserve that we all love. Each of the winning entries in particular revealed the beauty that many people miss and just see as ‘ordinary’ when they visit the nature reserve.
So, we would like to thank everyone who entered the competition and hope you enjoy viewing the winning entries. We would encourage everyone visiting to the nature reserve to look closer, to seek the beauty in the seemingly ‘ordinary’ and perhaps get ideas for entering our further competitions in the future.
Congratulations to Jatin, Toby and George and well done.
