Dear Friends of Vinters Valley,
It is with great sadness that we must advise our many friends that our founding chairman, Donal MacGrory, passed away peacefully on 7th May after a prolonged illness. Donal played a major role and displayed great fighting spirit in establishing the fledgling nature reserve that was to become Vinters Valley LNR and will be sadly missed. He never took no for an answer and worked tirelessly to save the land from developers and other interests. Without the foresight of Donal , his widow Lida and a handful of other equally dedicated people, Vinters Valley would probably not exist today, as the nature reserve we love.
Very kindly Donal's widow and her family have asked that morners not to send flowers, but instead to make donations to the Vinters Valley Park Trust and we will discuss with her at a later date how best any money should be used.
