Bird Boxes project - Diary
pages - 31st March 2008
I am writing this extra/special diary entry as we have some good news to report. It appears the warmer weather, today, has made many of the birds think it is spring. I have a nesting Blue Tit in my own nestbox and today she has brought in lots of moss and covered the floor in just one day. It appears also Robins can build quickly as our warden discovered a new Robins nest in one of the relocated boxes today. During the last survey this box was found empty.
The nest is made from mostly leafs and has some moss on top. So far there are no eggs, but the female Robin can be seen and heard nearby.
We are now going to carefully watch this nest from a distnce and hope it is successful. In due cause we will try and take some photos, which will be put onto the website for you all to see. We ask visitors not to distrub the nest. Thank you.
The next survey will be carried out on 5th April. Will any more of the Robin boxes be in use?
