Bird Boxes project - Diary
pages - 19th May 2007
Today saw the another survey carried
out.
Last week we found that over six more
boxes were in use, with parents busy visiting and
feeding chicks.
At all the Great Tit boxes we failed
to see any visiting parents. It may be that the Great
Tit's have now finished their nests and the chicks
have fledged. We will still be checking them for visits.
It is even possible for Great Tits to have another
nest.
We are happy to report that no more
nests have failed. Some of the boxes were not used
this year and these boxes will now remain empty this
year.
With the nesting season coming to end
soon we will be carrying out about three more weeks
of survey's this Spring/Summer before we begin the
long wait for October.
This project has been a success and
we have provided safe homes for around 22 pair of
birds. At the end of this year's surveys will be adding
a video sequence of some of the video we have captured
during the survey. Some of the nest locations will
come as a suprise to some of you. We will all let
you know when the video is live. Also once the surveys
are complete this website will remain open and the
results handed to our local warden for the park's
records.
The next survey will be carried out
on Saturday 26th May.
The results from today's survey can
now be viewed on this website. Please visit the "Survey
Results" pages for more details.
